Her birthplace was Roswell on March 29, 1985. Gerina Michelle is her birth name. Gerina Stevenson was born in Mexico in the family of Mexican parents Alan Stevenson and Rita Stevenson. Stevenson is American and has Mexican-American heritage. Since her early years her drive to become involved in sports was evident. Gerina began playing golf at the age of 15 years old. Gerina graduated from high school in Goddard High School. The school won the New Mexico State Golf Tournament at the age of high school. The volleyball abilities of her were recognized at the national level. She began attending the University of Texas. She won all of the events she took part in throughout her senior years. While in her university career, she was awarded Conference USA individual champion player of the year as well as UTEP Female Athletics Player of the Year.
